Poignant in a way don’t you think? from a design point of view, a symbol of the inevitability of ‘cradle to grave’ thinking.

i lament you, you once beautiful thing!

Randy Pausch lecture on Time Management

22 03 2008

This guy is inspiring, if I had half the courage that he has in the face of death I would count myself lucky. Even though im not religious, God bless and good luck Randy.

Also his website has a few videos that tug on the heart strings. http://download.srv.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/

Scathing Article on Steve Jobs

22 03 2008

Apple is fascinating to read about, Design and Culture and Drama all wrapped up in a company. Brilliant. Sometimes I think it’s like a soap opera for ‘grown ups’ with a vested interest in Design and Business.

In another article from Fortune Magazine ‘The Trouble With Steve Jobs‘, though long, is worth the read to see how ‘others’ think of Jobs. Leader of a cult variety? perhaps..

Mavericks eh…

Sagmeister

Enjoyed reading Stefan’s Blog for the NY times today, I have his book ‘Another Self Indulgent Design Book‘ , read it cover to cover and it was great, I love how honest and frank he is in a way no one else I read or listen to is.

Make sure you take a look at his videos and his new site ThingsIHaveLearnedinMyLife.com

Brand Issues - Paula Scher on Brand America

2 02 2008

 Paula Scher

Paula Scher from Pentagram demonstrates that there are intelligent ‘Americans’ out there despite the stereotypes.  She reveals tat a bit of national identity re-branding may be just what the United States needs to regain their rep abroad.  I’m impressed by her accurate perspective on the outsiders view of her country, which I can fully vouch for as having experienced here in England from many many Brits. Watch the interview here.
